Absolute Value of Noise

Posted by: Nick van der Kolk on May 31, 2008 04:05 PM | Comments (1)

I called the guy I'm couchsurfing with a few times this morning to get back into his house--I had left the cable that would let me upload sounds I recorded last night. When I did get in touch with him, he told me "just let yourself in. The house is unlocked." Of course. This is Canada.

Anyway, with USB cable in hand, I was able to hastily edit this conversation with the Absolute Value of Noise (aka Peter Courtemanche). Peter performed Somewhere A Voice Is Calling last night, and gave me a tour of some of the equipment he uses to reveal hidden sounds from the electromagnetic spectrum.

Take a listen.

... re: people who don't lock their doors in Canada ..

you and Michael Moore seem to have found the .05% of the population that doesn't lock their doors. So glad you've found the trusting kinds of souls .. but it's mostly an urban myth that Canadians don't lock their doors.

Thanks for blogging the conference! It was a wonderful time and my ears and head are still full.
