What is Salt?

Anyone who attended the Third Coast conference this year doubtless spoke with someone who was connected in some way with the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies radio program.

Would you believe it if I told you that this little school in Portland, Maine has had less than 100 graduates in its history? It's true. The Salt radio program, in short order, has come to be recognized as a leader in audio documentary studies. I sat down for a short interview after the Third Coast awards ceromony (at which at least one Salt alum received an award) to talk with Rob Rosenthal - the head of the Salt Radio program. If you want to learn to do radio, Salt could be the place.

david, hello, hello, hello! indeed am a saltie! was planning to write to you on another matter: i seriously know how hard and fun it can be to be a career changer into pub radio, and since you are in brooklyn i wanted to let you know that if you ever need anything you should just come over, sit on my stoop and enjoy one of those "other things" that jeremiah and i drink...
